I ve heard it referred to as permastone but i know faux stone such as this was marketed under many different names. However it quickly became more popular for covering the exteriors of old row houses in baltimore built by the tens of thousands using porous brick that left them plagued by penetrating moisture. It is approximately 1 2 1 thick. Permastone was used alot in the 50 s as a siding alternative for new or existing construction.

Permastone or other simulated stone products joined asphalt siding asbestos cement siding and later aluminum or vinyl siding widely sold as a cover over applied to older buildings to provide a more attractive or more durable exterior that required little or no maintenance compared with painting. From what i can tell this is the variety which was comprised of individual pieces which were cast on site and then mortared together on to the walls.
